Day 8 - Saturday, April 28, 2012

Last full day of my vacation other than my travel day.  Then I'm heading to Atlanta for the Quest for Banner 18!

Went to Myett's for breakfast.  Coconut French Toast was to die for!

Walked the beach and hung out in front of Quito's. The water was fabulous!  We moved to the other side of the dock around 1 p.m. to find some shade.  The sand crabs were playing in and out of their holes and I kicked back and took a nap under the tree. . . on a beach chair of course. I didn't want to be carried off by one of those crabs and miss the Playoffs!

A great Big Thanks to Bev for introducing me to the BVI.  I'll definitely be back!

Day 7 - Friday, April 27, 2012

Went into Road Town to return the Jeep and to go to the Botanic gardens on more time.

There were some turtles under the bridge and two pr-school classes visiting the gardens with their teachers.  They were screeching when Julie picked up the turtle and held it close so they could see it.

This is a Hat Palm. Very fun to climb! :-)

After lunch at Capriccio's and a little shopping, we took a taxi back to CGB to sound the rest of the day. Going up Joe's Hill, the wheels were squealing. I wasn't sure we were going to make it.  I liked driving with Bev in the Jeep MUCH better!

Spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach.  I'm really going to miss this island, but I hope to come back to celebrate Banner 18 as the playoffs start on Sunday!

Day 6 - April 26, 2012

Well, I may have to hop on a plane today to get to Boston in time to play against the Bucks. We'll see how the back is after resting it in the Caribbean.  Hmmmm, maybe I will just clone myself for the rest of the week! :-)

Kat and Chris Nichols stopped by Myett's for lunch with their nephew Charlie and were happy to get a photo with me!

Kat even let me try her Island Summer beer (brewed in Maine by Shipyard Brewery by the way!)

I like that Long Bay Resort uses Celtics green for their chairs.  Great place. Nice beach!

Looking forward to dinner at The Palm's Delight!

Beth came across the island to try Palm's Delight.  Her muffler fell off up n the Ridge Road, but Bev picked her up and Jeff sent Little Dougie to Quito's to get her after dinner.  Too bad Shirley was off-island.  I would have enjoyed meeting an Island Celtics fan!

Had to teleport myself to the TD Garden for the game. Felt good to be back on the Parquet with the guys and get a WIN for the final game of the regular season.  Now let's go after Banner 18!

Day 5 - Wednesday, April 25, 2012

After the morning on the beach at Cane Garden Bay, I hopped in the car with BVI Bev and headed over to West End.  We stopped at the Bomba Shack, another place that has Full Moon parties. I'll definitely have to come back with the team and check that out after the playoffs are over.  I hear they have mushroom tea, but Bev said NOT to drink it!

Look at this cool tree we saw!

This sure is a fun way to see the island. BVI Bev really knows her way around.  Driving on the left and those switchbacks on the roads are a little scary at times even though BVI Bev is a good driver!  I'll remember to keep my seatbelt buckled!

We had lunch at Pusser's at Soper's Hole.  Cheeseburger in Paradise!

We saw some cool pelicans roosting in a tree on the way back to Cane Garden Bay

Day 4 - Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Tuesday was a great day at Cane Garden Bay!  We planned to spend the morning by the pool as we had heard there was a cruiseship in town, but the beach was empty so we got to have our own private beach for the day with a few boaters walking by now and then.
Lots of fun things to do at CGB.

Should I go paddle boating?

Or maybe kayaking?

I think for now I’ll just float around in the beautiful blue-green sea.  It’s so clear!

I think I've found my seat at Quito's Bar. The views are awesome!

Channelling my energy to the Bench Mob for tonight's game against the Miami Heat!  BEAT the HEAT!

Lunch break!  Hmmmm, I’m still in training so I’ll have to have a Virgin Pina Colada today!

HaPpY HoUr!

This Bushwacker was too tasty to pass up!  This is the standard recipe. Tastes just like a chocolate milkshake...but be careful! It ain't no milkshake! Ever heard of a "virgin" drink? A "virgin" Bushwacker is a glass of ICE!!
  • 1/2 ounce rum (Cruzan is the best, but use whatever brand you have)
  • 1/2 ounce vodka (any brand)
  • 1/2 ounce Baileys Irish Cream (or a similar off-brand name)
  • 1/2 ounce Kahlua (or a coffee flavored off-brand name)
  • 1/2 ounce chococo chocolate-flavored liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce Frangelico (I recommend it) (optional)
  • 1/2 ounce creme de coconut (a MUST - "Coco Lopez" is best)
  • 1 cup crushed ice (more or less to make the proper consistency)
  • 3 dashes of grated nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon whipped cream
Directions:
1
Put everything, except nutmeg, whipped cream and cherries in a blender and use enough ice that when blended will be the consistency of a milkshake.
2
Blend, pour into glasses, and top with whipped cream, a cherry, and a couple dashes of grated nutmeg.
3
Enjoy!

The Celtics game wasn't on in the bar so we watched Sasha and Quis put the Heat away!  When will they learn?

I'd rather be on the Parquet at the TD garden, but if I've got to be out, THIS is THE place to be!

Day 3 - Monday, April 23, 2012

Linda and Tom stopped by on their early morning excursion around the island.  Rondo is Linda's FAVORITE Celtics player so she was happy to see him.  After they left, we headed to the Botanical Gardens, picked up the rental car and then went over to Nanny Cay to check out the boats.

Rondo thought it would be cool to check out the boats up close and personal and since he has an edge on me he was off and running before I could stop him!

Hmmm, this one looks pretty good. Sunny Side Up; I like the name!

Yes!  I think this is the one. See what a good fit it is!  Look closely, that's ME on that boat!

I could get used to this life!

And Nanny Cay has a nice beach, too

After Nanny Cay, we headed over to Long Bay Beach on Beef Island!  There are those people again. I know this is a small island, but really, are they stalking me?

Lunch at Trellis Kitchen at Trellis bay was really good.

Trellis Bay is where they have the Full Moon Fireball Parties, but there's no Full Moon this week.

Then it was back to Cane Garden Bay for a nap. Need to rest up for tomorrow night's game against the Miami Heat!

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of my trip brings! :-)
